Position: Children's Department Director
The Odyssey Bookshop is looking for a bookseller, buyer, and events coordinator for our children's department. The successful candidate will have a background in the book industry, possess patience and energy in equal measure, have a passion for children's books from picture books to young adult, enjoy working with all ages of the public, and be a master of time management. Enthusiasm and multitasking in this job are key. The job consists of purchasing all books and gift items for children, scheduling and planning children's events (in store and in schools as well as managing authorless events), educator nights, a children's writing competition, and more. The Pioneer Valley is rich with many talented authors, illustrators and educators who are a pleasure to work with.
Odyssey Bookshop is the oldest and largest independent bookstore in western Massachusetts, featuring over 125 author events every year.
Weekends and some nights expected. Must have own transportation. This is a full time, salaried position with some benefits. Salary range is $23-26k, depending on experience.
