Join us on Saturday, November 30 for one of our favorite days of the year: Indies First, a Small Business Saturday tradition! We'll have refreshments, free gifts, guest booksellers, and and savings for you and your community!
Indies First is a national campaign of activities and events in support of independent bookstores that takes place annually on Small Business Saturday. It's a day dedicated to supporting the local businesses that help create jobs, boost the economy, and preserve neighborhoods. It's also a great time to beat the holiday shopping rush and stock up, because we'll be offering 20% off for you or your community.
It's your choice: Save 20% off your purchase OR we'll donate 20% of your purchase to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Last year, the Food Bank of Western MA distributed 10.8 million pounds of food to our neighbors in need in all four counties. Learn more about their work here.
This all day celebration will also feature free snacks and refreshments, including a Make-Your-Own hot chocolate bar. Shoppers will revieve bookish gifts, including free advanced reading copies of upcoming books, with every purchase of $50.00 or more (while supplies last). The Odyssey will also have surprise guest booksellers on hand to help you find the perfect holiday gifts for your loved ones — or maybe just the perfect read just for you!
Since 1982, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been feeding our neighbors in need and leading the community to end hunger. We distribute food to our member agencies in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties. These pantries, meal sites, survival centers, and shelters are on the front lines of emergency food assistance in our region, playing a crucial role helping individuals, families, seniors, veterans, and children.
In addition to food distribution, we also serve as an important resource to all of our member agencies to help strengthen the emergency food network, increase their capacity, and develop long-term projects to fight the underlying causes of hunger in our community.
