KIDS EVENTS & SCHOOL OUTREACH COORDINATOR: The Odyssey Bookshop is looking for an experienced Kids Events and School Outreach Coordinator to join our team!

  • An extensive knowledge of children’s literature is required.  Bookselling experience is a plus! Passion for books is a must!

  • A successful candidate must be comfortable using technology and online event platforms, including Constant Contact, Canva, Zoom, and Facebook Live for virtual events.

  • A successful candidate will be in charge of all aspects of hosting in-person kids’ events.

  • This position necessitates working closely with publicists and authors as well as other key staff members (especially the Children’s Book Buyer) to plan numerous events and marketing promotions on various social media platforms.

  • The successful candidate will be meticulous about details and timelines, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, including graphic skills, and enjoy working with the public

  • Essential tasks will include writing event proposals, following up with publicists, scheduling events, securing co-sponsors, placing book orders, and putting together press releases.

  • Other responsibilities will include event outreach (writing weekly newsletters, creating and distributing flyers, website and social media promotion, etc.); creating in-store and online sales promotions; and organizing signed books campaigns and special pre-order campaigns.

  • Meeting with local teachers, principals, youth programs, and librarians are a key to making our kids programming successful.


This position includes some evening hours and some weekend hours. This position requires a flexible schedule. Must have own transportation.

This is a 20-30 hours/week position. Hourly wage is dependent on previous work experience with the lowest starting point at $15/hour.
